Throw a Party!

The holidays are fast approaching (yikes) and that means you need to start checking off everyone on your list.  Let me make it a little easier with a one-stop shop!  All you have to do is invite your friends, and I'll do the rest.  Jewelry parties are a great way to find the perfect presents for all the ladies in your life (and some guys)!  You and your guests can take home the jewelry you buy on the spot.  See something that you'd like customized?  No problem.  I'll send it to you or the recipient in the mail once it's completed.  Plus, as the host, you receive a piece of jewelry for free.  If your guests buy 2 items, the 3rd is 15% off!  I mean, it's a win-win situation!

What to Wear to that Party!

Going to a special event in the cooler months is tricky.  It is harder to decide on a color, fabric, length, etc, than in the warmer days of Summer.  Here is a dress I made for a wedding I had gone to in November.  This would be perfect throughout the fall and carry right into the Winter as the perfect dress for your holiday parties!  Made of a Navy Stretch Satin, this cocktail dress featured 3/4 sleeves and an open back.  The neckline and back straps were hand beaded with tons of silver and clear glass bugle and seed beads.  No need for a necklace!  I paired the dress with vintage crystal and pearl bracelets, small vintage diamond earrings and Sam Edelman spiked black suede peep toe pumps.

Fall is Here!

The temperatures are dropping, the colors of the leaves are changing, and it's time to update your wardrobe.  While you can still get away with wearing some of your summer staples with chunky cardigans, knee high socks, and boots, the right accessories can tie the whole look together.  Natural stones and wood are a great combination to carry you from the last warm days of summer into the crisp chillier days of Autumn.

A Montauk Wedding

Over the weekend, my husband and I traveled to beautiful Montauk, NY, for our friends' wedding.  The series of events took place at the Montauk Yacht Club.  The wedding itself called for "Beach Elegant," so I wore a floral silk chiffon gown that I made.  The gown had a halter neckline with a cotton orange and white striped waistband.  Here I am with our friends Brian and Melissa.

To accessorize, I wore a pair of vintage gold chains with crystal insets, and a third gold chain with peridot and champagne quartz insets.  I then wore a pair of gold square drop earrings and oversized wood beaded bracelet, both that I designed.  Paired with my Grandmother's vintage rings, and a large brown bangle, the look was finished off with gold strappy sandals.

I Make Wedding Dresses, Wedding Veils and Hair Pieces...and now Wedding Arches

A friend of mine asked if I'd be interested in making wedding arches for her sister's wedding.  I have made wedding dresses, including my own.   I have made veils and hair pieces, including one I'm working on right now for my future sister-in-law... but arches?  That's new territory.  However, when she asked, I couldn't say no.  I had so many ideas already brewing.

The arches will be held up for the bride and groom to walk under as they enter into the reception at their wedding today.  I hadn't done this before, but I was ready to take on the challenge.  The colors for the wedding are metallics, and the bride is wearing a simple, but beautiful ivory gown with a slightly darker satin sash.  Classic and timeless.

Here are the before photos.  A whole slew of silk flowers, pearls, rhinestones, satin ribbon, and more.  I started with hula hoops, cut them, then wrapped them in ivory satin ribbon.  I then attached flowers, pearls, rhinestones, and other elements around the top portions.

From the photos, it looks like a tacky craft store explosion.  The glitz and glam was tamed in the end, however, for this sophisticated and elegant event.  Here are the final products!

So if you need some wedding arches, I can do that, too!
